Call for Sponsors


You're invited to participate in the 2023 Writers Who Run 5k & 10k Race For Literacy, held Saturday, July 15th at the Lake Junaluska Nanci Weldon Memorial Gym.

We will connect writers, racers, volunteers, and spectators to the deeper purpose and passion of literacy. Our racers include runners who regularly run distances from 5k to ultramarathon and walkers who are just starting out with getting more fit. We are celebrating our 5th year and expect upwards of 300 registered racers, and over 100 spectators; however, the reach of your sponsorship will extend to our entire community, including 2,500+ on our email list and our social media followers that extend beyond 4,000+ followers.

​For 2023, our literacy fundraising goal is to raise a minimum of $1,500 to donate to our Literacy Partner, Read 2 Succeed Asheville/Buncombe (R2S). 

We can't meet this goal without the help from companies like yours.

By giving to Writers Who Run, you'll be able to help us put on a great race and accomplish our goal of donating at least $1,500 to R2S, which serves over 150 students every week through one-to-one tutoring, literacy trainings and workshops, family reading events, and more.

Donations to R2S allow them to provide high-quality literacy training, tutoring materials, and ongoing coaching to volunteer reading tutors who support more than 50 local students in Asheville and Buncombe County. Tutors serve students one-to-one twice a week for the entire school year. Donations also support their kindergarten-readiness programming, culturally-responsive book distribution, monthly family reading events, and summer camp and after-school academic support with community partners.
